Dharana Drawings

2014–2020

Dharana is a Sanskrit word and concept that means holding steady, concentration or single focus. The purpose of the single focus is to relax a too active mind. The physical aspect of repetitious mark making, composing the circular patterns and the vibration of color serves the purpose of steadying the mind while becoming drawings that then act, when finished, as objects of contemplation.
