Wanderlux: Final Phase 2010
Wander: to move in a leisurely, casual or even aimless way

Lux: latin for light

When wandering, we look without specific intent and so therefore more can be seen. More is revealed to the eye specifically because the brain is not doing any pre-editing. This lack of editing is pure luxury.

Wanderlux is comprised of thousands of tiny pieces, all similar yet all different. Just as in the forests, these tiny pieces make up a unified whole. To wander in the forest is to allow oneself the time and space to slow down, to remove distraction, to quiet the mind.

Wanderlux is a visceral, sensual landscape for the mind. Wanderlux asks the viewer to explore, to wander through and to really look at the tiny nuances and be surprised by the discovery process. In this quiet space, we are able to see small details unfold, revealing subtle surprises, exposing differences. This quieting of the mind is luxurious in our busy, over stimulated world. As we calm the mind, we open not only to the delicate world around us, but we also open to ourselves, we wander into our own light.
